Week 1
The client who wants me to make an asset that helps 14-21 year olds understand the STEM sector (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) is Unruly Ember and they wanted me to make a tiny room last time. They want me to make a 3D model, 2D sprites or a game mechanic so it can emphasise the use of chemicals and their use to make fuel and oxygen for habitation.
I chose these images because for a 14-21 year old they won't want the item to be childish and if the item is childish then they will think the game will be for people younger than them so they will want it to be an item for adults. Also, the images gives me an idea of what my fuel and oxygen container will look like because the container will have to look more pleasing to them. Furthermore, I'm making the asset as a 3D model on Maya.
The fuel and oxygen containers will hold 770,000 litres and 1,000,000kg.
I chose this because it's an unique game as you have to survive on an underwater alien planet and you have gather materials so you can make better items to survive. This will my ideas as you have to have a oxygen tank to explore more. This game is set in the future so it will be different to the present.
This generator can be used by the combustion of some sort of fuel.
These are risks that can happen while doing the assignment as there are different things that can happen whilst doing the work.
This is my Gantt Chart which shows how many days I have been doing the assignment so it gives me an idea of how many days I should be working on.
S-trengths: I can find research fast.
W-eaknesses: Not adding enough detail to the website or the production of the asset.
O-pportunities: When I can find the research fast, I can do the work quicker.
T-hreats: By not adding enough detail to the website or asset I get unclassified in the assignments.
Week 2
These are some idea I have come up with to make my 3D model and with having multiple ideas then I can pick the one that is the better one.
These are some environments that the generator could go e.g. if the generator was in a spaceship then the generator will have a different job than a Ice planet so it will be suitable for the correct environment.
This is my mood board of want kind of generator I want to make my asset based after. I chose those images because they look sci-fi which is written in the brief so I can't give the people a cartoon generator as that's not what is written in the brief.
I chose this image because the green lighting on the generator makes it fit the sci-fi style and the colours make it stand out and the green reminds me of The Matrix because of the opening of The Matrix.
The feedback I got from people like Charlie said that "The colour scheme fits the sci-fi theme." Finley said "There are information missing" and Rhys said "My ideas were nicely laid out but couldn't understand in terms of form." Also, Joe said the "Colour scheme is very fitting and presented nicely." and Connor said that " the ideas are good but the mood board is lacking."
Week 3+4

The generator is placed on the lower stages on the base which is located on a lava planet. It gathers the lava for fuel which powers the base and if the generator brakes then there would not be any power going through the base so the staff will have to fix it so they can have more power inside the base. Also, the generator is made out of tungsten so the generator doesn't melt because tungsten's melting point is higher than lava's Celsius. Furthermore, the generator produces 100,000 watts which powers the whole base because if the generator produces a normal 10,000 watts then it will only power one room. When the lava enters the generator it gets converted into energy which goes around the whole base so each room can get power. In addition, the generator can provide backup power so if there is a black out it can give the base power even if everything around them does not have power. The power in the base will last forever because it is located on a lava planet there will be infinite amounts of lava so there's no worry about losing the lava. Finally, the generator can be used as a light source because with the glass at the front there is a light beaming out so when staff go and check on the generator, there will not need a torch or turn the light on in the room as the light fills the whole room.
This is version 1 of my sci-fi generator so it will look better every time I add changes to the generator. It was made in Maya which is a 3D modelling software so I used because I'm creating a 3D model of the asset in the brief. I used different shapes to make the generator such as a square, cylinder and spheres.
This is version 2 of my sci-fi generator, I added changes to it to make it better such as adding more textures and with the textures it makes it more sci-fi because it says so in the brief. I changed the texture on the green shapes so it fits the other textures.
This is version 3 of my sci-fi generator, I added more things to it for it to stand out and adds more ascetic.
I created this using cylinders, squares, and spheres and I changed their attributes by using the scale tool so I could make a handle for the generator so it can be pushed or pulled as it has got wheels to move around and the blue rings around the centre of the generator, deleted some faces on the square so they can make the handle. Also, this is version 4 of my sci-fi generator.
This is version 5 of my sci-fi generator, there are things added from the images in the mood board so it doesn't look like a copy of one of images I put things in from all of images.
This is version 6 of my sci-fi generator, More things have been added such as the more blue around the centre so it drags the player to the centre of the generator where they can see the lava get turned into fuel and some shapes have been bevelled which smoothed out the edges of the shapes. Also, I extruded the blue rings so the middle doesn't look bland.
This version 7 of my sci-fi generator, didn't add much but changed the colour of the spheres on the sides so it doesn't look like someone else's work. Also, with changing colours the generator will be my own style as it's supposed to creative.
This is version 8 of my sci-fi generator, I've changed some textures so I used lambert which allows me to put different textures on to different shapes. I changed the textures where the purple spheres are because the texture before it didn't fit with brief so it changed it.
"I like how the colours match with the generator but the middle colours are simple and doesn't really fit the brief." - Ethan Barker
This is version 9 of my sci-fi generator, I changed the textures of the middle with lambert because the previous colours didn't go well with the brief or the generator and they look more sci-fi as the screen makes me think of The Matrix.

These are some UVs for the generator, I created it by selecting the UV shells and using the automatic selection
The first week started with us doing some research on the brief that was given to us and we had to come up with idea of the asset which could be a 3D model, pixel art, or a game mechanic. We had to analyse data so we had to find out which idea was the best and the best idea was going to be the idea that you go with to make the asset of your choice. Also, made a survey so people can see what you ideas you have came up with and from the feedback they have came up with you could add to your ideas to see what it could look like with the feedback you have given. Also, I put the asset in Unreal engine to see what it would look like in a game engine.
